PORTLAND, Ore. -- Two snowboarders from Bend, Oregon, qualified for the Olympics halfpipe final.
Ben Ferguson and Kent Callister both finished in the top 12 out of 29 men.
Ferguson, representing Team USA, scored a 91 on his first run, putting him easily in the final. He scored an 89.75 on his second run. The top score of two runs counts in qualifying.
This is Ferguson’s first trip to the Olympics.
American favorite Shaun White also qualified with a score of 98.50.
Kent Callister, representing Australia, finished 12th in qualifying to earn the last spot in the final. His best score was 77.
Callister's family moved to Bend in 2005. This was his second trip to the Olympics.
